2015

 2015 flies by and I suck at writing on my blogs. I think that partly has to do with the little feedback I get, so.. time to release them on facebook. That might help. The other part is mostly because I struggle a lot with myself. That placed a huge block in front of me to use my creativity, to write and to just be open and honest. So time to change that as well. Life sucks sometimes and at other times it is a huge joy. But it shouldn't limit me. I think it can certainly be a blessing as well to throw all my crap on the internet (weird combination - crap being a blessing).
 Anyway likes are welcome. If you don't, send me a message or just ignore (defriend me). Good comments are always welcome.

 2015 vliegt voorbij en ik stink als het gaat om het schrijven van mijn blogs. Ik denk dat dit deels komt door 't weinige aan reacties die krijg.. dus.. tijd om ze te plaatsen op facebook. Dat zou kunnen helpen. 't Andere deel komt vooral door dat ik met mijzelf worstel. Dat plaatst juist een grote blokkade voor me om mijn creativiteit te gebruiken, om te schrijven en gewoon open en eerlijk te zijn. Dus het is ook tijd om dat te veranderen. 't Leven stinkt soms en op andere momenten maakt 't mij blij. Maar 't moet mij niet belemmeren. Ik denk dat het zeker een zegen kan zijn als ik mijn stront op het internet kwak (beetje rare uitdrukking - maar je weet hoe dat gaat)
 In ieder geval zijn likes welkom. Zo niet, stuur dan een reactie of negeer 't gewoon. Positieve reacties zijn altijd welkom.

Trample my life?

Anyone who loves Psalms? For me they keep on surprising me. Worship songs don't do it to me as what David has composed. Read this:

"O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause, let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust." Psalm 7:3-5

And yes, David got that experience, a couple of times.. So who dares to sing a song like this or pray such a prayer???

Rich

Rich Mullins has influenced me a lot. To live radically for God, to follow Jesus' footsteps ain't easy. I love it that he lived a life that full of following Christ, in honesty and open. To be critical towards yourself, the church and others, but knowing that God's love is bigger than any of our mistakes and shortcomings. I want to live a life like that.



Rich Mullins heeft mij veel beinvloed. Om radicaal voor God te leven, om Jezus zijn voetstappen te volgen is niet makkelijk. Ik vind het geweldig dat hij een leven had dat vol is van het volgen van Christus, in alle eerlijk en open. Om kritisch te zijn naar jezelf, de kerk en andere mensen, maar wetende dat Gods liefde groter is dan al onze fouten en tekortkomingen. Ik wil leven zoals dat.

Tolkien & the Oxford English Dictionary

It is amazing what book you can stumble upon and how fascinated it can become. This is what happened to this book. I found it on sales in a small bookstore which was about to close down. 
 What it is about? The work on creating a complete English Dictionary and given the roots to its words. And the creation of it has a great connection to one of the biggest authors and the great stories he created. J.R.R. Tolkien. He worked for this dictionary and the few years he gave to it inspired him to set up the foundation for the story of the Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and his other stories.

Het is verbazingwekkend dat een boek dat je bij toeval vindt zo fascinerend kan zijn. Dit is wat gebeurde met dit boek. Het was in de uitverkoop in een boekhandel dat op dat moment werd opgeheven. 
 Waar gaat 't over? Het werk voor het creeëren van een compleet Engels Woordenboek, inclusief de wortels waar deze woorden opgebouwd zijn (Incl. Nederlandse). En het creeëren hiervan is verbonden met één van de grootste schrijver en de verhalen die hij schreef. J.R.R. Tolkien. Hij werkte voor dit woordenboek en de paar jaar dat hij hier aan gaf inspireerde hem voor het leggen van de fundering voor de verhalen van de Hobbit, In de Ban van de Ring en andere verhalen.

Cape Point & Cape of Good Hope

Dit zijn een aantal foto's van wat we op de Kaap gezien hebben. Het is allemachtig prachtig. De zee, de klippen, het strand, al het natuurschoon. Er heerst een stramme wind, maar het is de moeite waard deze te trotseren.
